[Concept] Nokia Music 2.0

Currently Nokia Music works as a general music player but with a location-aware twist. You also get access to the Nokia Music store, which is an alternative to the Zune Marketplace.
As a music player, it’s pretty standard – your tracks are sorted by artist, album, playlists or you can view all songs. The interface is very similar to that of the stock Zune player, but under the album art it lists the next three songs to be played – really helpful if you’re using shuffle. There’s no way to manually reorder the upcoming songs, but you can reshuffle them if there’s one you don’t like. Zune in the phone is pretty much the same – as a simple and straightforward interface with no settings or extra functions. However there are some things missing, like an equalizer. Another missing feature is the ability to scrub through a song with your finger – you have to press and hold on the FF/rewind buttons to simply jump back and forth.
Don’t get me wrong – they are beautiful and do that is design for, but sometime we need more than just the basic player. In Marketplace we can find a lot of music players, but they all are poor in function and vision. Actually I’m really surprise that there is no single application with nice interface and functions other than shuffle.
That is going to change with this concept. I’m gonna to develop the idea what should be the player.

All start with new home view – quick access to Library and Now playing. Now playing bar can be shown top or bottom, and you have quick access by pressing the volume keys. Here is the example of latest or frequent plays

I want to keep the basic player view, because it’s more than beautiful and comfortable, with few changes and extra features. I really like the button’s position in Nokia Music – they are at the bottom and they are easy to push – really comfortable for large screen. I make it bigger and also I add a gesture options in my concept:

left/right swipe to change the song

up/down to change the album/folder

typing on the background shows more options like repeat, shuffle, favorite and equalizer

typing at the album’s cover take you to the Library

typing on the song’s name open the Now playing

plays songs from folders and from own library

support for more formats for songs and playlists – mp3, mp4/m4a, ogg, wma, flac, wav, ape, wv, tta, mpc, aiff and m3u, m3u8, pls, wpl

graphical equalizer, build and custom presets

more audio settings as bass and Treble adjustment

balance settings, crossfade, gapless, replay gain

user defined queue

play via radio – with FM transmitter

support for lyrics, scrobbling and tag

seek bar

The visual presentation is the trade mark of Windows Phone, so the app will automatically downloads artist pictures and sets them as the screen background for that artist. You can see more pictures and also to see the artist’s bio from the last.fm
