comScore releases December 2011 market share report
comScore mobile analysis
comScore has released data from the comScore MobiLens service, which reports a three month period ending December 2011.
The study of over 30,000 U.S. mobile phone subscribers indicating market share for OEM manufacturers and platform.
Samsung was listed top OEM manufacturer with 25.3% market share and Google’s Android as dominant platform with a massive 47.3% share.
Microsoft appeared to lose 0.9% share with a 2.5% increace by Google and a 2.2% increace for Apple. The study showed Blackberry (RIM) has lost the biggest share of the market with 2.9% loss to the other platforms.
What is strange is that symbian has not lost too much share at all, only 0.4% loss by the linux based mobile os. Even stranger is that the OEM statistics have 22.3% missing from the total in the period leading upto christmas.
Mobile usage is up in all aspects, including grps/3g/4g, sms text messages. with the biggest gain of 5.1% increace in app downloads and usage.
