This is my first post, so I first want to thank all the guys from this (can I say?) company, who made this excellent site.
Oowke, back to my post. Recently, I entered the site youtube (you know it, I think) I noticed a new video upload, about windows phone 7, called wireless sync. Because I consume everything about wp7, I watched it. And I thought, ‘hey, this is new to me, maybe the guys at 1800 would like to know this’.
And that’s why I took this opportunity. I’m not sure whether you know this situation, but sometimes, when I’m sitting behind the computer, listening music, I have the feeling: ’wow, I didn’t know I have this song, want it on the iPod. But, oow, it’s upstairs, on the charger. So, hope I can remember it.
Thankfully, Microsoft, thought about that. As you see in the video, when you ever come across such a situation, you just drag the song you want to the “add to device” and voila, when you are upstairs, you press the music & video hub, and it syncs immediately. via Pocketnow
I’m regularly reading your blog since I made my decision to buy and use a WP7. Thank you for your good work keeping us up to date. As I followed the Facebook group of “Windows Phone DE” and many other forums and blogs, one of the mayor problem of WP7 is the synchronization with Outlook.
Maybe this is a story / tip you want to share with your readers?
Background:
I was really not sure if I could live with using Microsoft Live and from now on regularly copy all my contacts and appointments manually to the live addin of outlook at home (where I use POP3 only) and at work (Exchange, that is not public in Internet – so no chance for WP7 to sync)
After several days of investigation – there is no API or Tool to synchronize your existing outlook PST contacts or any other contacts with Live, except for using the Live Connector that adds a new calendar, new contacts and new email folders to your outlook. You need to stick on copying your items manually or move completely to Live. So it’s not a Synchronization as used before with good old ActiveSync.
But finally after extreme investigation, I’ve found a solution and two tools that give me my old abilities back:
We have got mixed reaction to the WP7 content on the site, so we are looking for your opinion on the topic. When you visit 1800PocketPC.com what do you expect to see. We have a short poll , plz vote and let us know what you think. You CAN choose multiple item so if you want to see all of the content choose all three. If you need to see something that is not listed below add that to the comments. This will stay open till the 19th.
We have seen a lot about WP7 over the months from the initial launch to the hands on reviews by the select few tech blogs.
Granted there are flaws in the OS ( multitasking, copy-paste are the most talked about ) and there are some great features like xbox live integration ( that will never come to other devices like the iPhone or Android ), sharepoint integration , etc. We should see some exclusive 3rd party game titles some time in August. By now you guys would know what to expect from WP7.
So my question to you guys
?Will you get a WP7 or will you wait for xda to port WP7 to HD2 ? or Will you just stick to WM6.x for now and switch to Android
I haven’t followed up on the WP7 port to HD2 on xda ( not an HD2 owner ), anyone knows what is the current status of the port ? So far I am sold and cant wait to get a WP7 device. So you know my answer, what do you guys think ?
