One feature many users wanted once we got the custom ringtones feature in Windows Phone Mango was the ability to add custom SMS tones , there was a way to get this done by a registry edit but now thanks to the effort of Windows Phone developer djfoxer and his app MyRingtone2SMS there is an easy way to get custom ringtones on your Windows Phone. You will need a fully Unlocked device or you can use Windows Phone Root Tools to give the MyRingtone2SMS app Trusted status.

Users have had trouble in the past while trying to add their local creditcard to their windows phone primary live id account, when the primary account they use is a US based account ( and they are not from the US ) and if they happen to use this account as their primary acoount on windows phone. Now it would be a lot easier on everyone if Microsoft allows users to switch the region on their account, sadly this is something Microsoft has been reluctant to do. The folks at xda-dev does not usually take no for an answer and some of them has come up with a work around to get past this issue.
NOTE : I have not used this myself coz I hear the folks at Microsoft are always ready with the BanHammer when it comes to messing around with xbox live services. You have been warned. But if you want to head down this road jump past the break for the full step by step instruction
SMSBackup is a homebrew tool for Windows Phone that offers an easy and quick method to backup SMS on your device. The app is available for free but you need to have an interop unlocked device to run it. According to the developer first-generation interop-unlocked HTC, Samsung phones and fully-unlocked phones can run it ( If you have a Nokia you could try interop unlock ) . I have successfully run it on my Omnia 7 and the app does backup my SMS messages .. NOTE : I have not tried to restore em back .. I will try that on my next ROM flash. The app offers users the ability to back up to the device ( to the isolated store ) or external backup to your skydrive account.
Do you want to change your carrier logo that pops up when your phone boots up on rooted devices ? ( the one that comes up between the OEM logo and the Windows Phone animation when you boot-up your phone ). Thanks to windows phone hacker there is a way.

One of our favorite Homebrew developer Jaxbot from windows phone hacker has updated his Orientation Lock app to version 3 which have introduced the ability to pin a secondary live tile. Clicking on the secondary tile acts as a quick toggle between the orientation locked and orientation unlocked states and the tile icon will tell you if it is in locked or unlocked state. For me this app is quite handy when I want to read something in portrait mode while I am lying down.
