Orientation Lock adds new live tile for easy toggle [homebrew]

One of our favorite Homebrew developer Jaxbot from windows phone hacker has updated his Orientation Lock app to version 3 which have introduced the ability to pin a secondary live tile. Clicking on the secondary tile acts as a quick toggle between the orientation locked and orientation unlocked states and the tile icon will tell you if it is in locked or unlocked state. For me this app is quite handy when I want to read something in portrait mode while I am lying down.

WPH Tweaks to bring Fake Xbox Gold tweak to Windows Phone

Jaxbot from WindowsPhoneHacker is working on a new Homebrew app that will allow users to apply a lot of custom registry hacks to their Windows Phone devices with a few clicks instead of messing around with a registry editor like WP7 Root Tools. In the typical Jaxbot fashion he has put up a teaser post on his site where we get a glimpse of what we can expect .. There will the hack to to spoof the Zune syncing status which will allow users to open media / marketplace without the need to close Zune or disconnect your phone. The screenshot also shows a Fake xBox Gold thingi which I assume will allow Normal FREE xBox live users to send messages via xbox live ( which is usually reserved for gold subscribers ). According to comments on the site it would seem Microsoft only does a clientside check for xBox Gold Status and this hack will spoof the phone in to thinking the user has Gold Subscription which will enable them to send messages to other xbox live users. I suspect Microsoft won’t be too happy with it and a fix could very well be coming soon which might break this particular hack.

XapHandler : get XAP to install from IE / Email on Stock ROMS [ Homebrew ]

With Apps / games that are installed from the marketplace you automatically update the app when an update is pushed out via the Marketplace but if you are a sideloader then when the new version of the app comes out and you try to reinstall the XAP file the app is installed as a fresh copy and you lose the settings and customization but with a new homebrew app called XapHandler you can tell your phone to install the XAP as a clean install or force it to update the existing XAP.
Update : The app can also be used on unlocked stock ROM ( thanks to WP7 Root Tools ) which will enable users to sideload XAP from IE or email )

Install instruction :

Install XapHandler
Run XapHandler ( if you are on a stock ROM you will need to add XapHandler as trusted using WP7 Root Tools ) and hit OK.
Exit App.

Volume Slider : for when the hardware volume buttons fail to work

Here is an app that most people might not need but on a daily basis but once the hardware button gets stuffed then this will be an invaluable tool, Volume Slider is a homebrew app that allows users to adjust the master volume on the device. The app also has a mute button if you want to put the device on silent. The app should work on dev unlocked devices , I tried it on my Omnia7 using a custom ROM and it works well.
