reinstaller 01

reinstaller 01

If you install apps through the Zune Desktop client Windows Phone can restore those apps after a hard reset ( assuming you use the same live id ) . One issue with this is that if you buy the app from the phone or the web marketplace this does not come through :( but We can see all the apps purchased and installed from this link https://www.windowsphone.com/en-GB/account . Now a 3rd party developer has released an app that looks at this list and helps you reinstall the apps back to your device with a few simple steps. Press release for the app below

Did you loose all your apps after your phone was reset or wiped for some reason? Or, did you buy a new Windows Phone device and need to install the apps you loved?
Do you remember all the apps you had on your phone?

Reinstaller by WPfied can help you reinstall all the apps easily. Tap on the Connect button, log on to www.windowsphone.com and watch it fetch the list of apps. And, then tap on the Install button to review the list of app and start installations – it really that simple.

How does it work?
When you tap on the Connect button, Reinstaller prompts you to login to https://www.windowsphone.com and then scans the website for all the apps that you have ever installed on your Windows Phone.
Once you are done with that, you can tap on the on the Install button on the main page. The install page displays list of all the apps that are associated with your Live account. Using the jump list and check boxes you can install all or some of them.

When you start the installation, Reinstaller invokes the Marketplace tasks for installing the apps one by one as that’s the *ONLY* way to do it on the current Windows Phone release. Tap on the Yes button to start the installation, No to skip the specific app and Stop to prevent further prompts and come back to the main screen.

This confirmation screen helps by preventing seemingly endless prompts for app installs.

What it doesn’t do?
- Restore saved app data and game stats
- Access any other information apart from the list of apps
- Access, collect or send any personally identifiable information to anyone
- Keep you logged on to www.windowsphone.com after the app has exited
- Transfer apps/games purchases to another Live account.

Wiztiles Pro : your home screen your way

by Saijo George on February 10, 2012

Wiztiles 03

Wiztiles 03

We have seen a few hacks and trick that lets users customize the home screen like adding categories to the home screen or changing the accent colors or adding background images to tiles ( homebrew ) and more. Microsoft has offered a slight degree of customization here but thanks to apps such as Wiztiles users are now able to customize the home screen more to their taste. Press release below

Windows Phone 7 tiles are boring! Those tiles take up way too much space! LOL! That start screen is ugly! WP7 has no chance! Too little, too late! LOL! You can’t customize anything! LOL!

This is the kind of comments I hear from friends and from reading tech blogs. I got tired of it, so we created Wiztiles. I’m not writing this article to only promote the app. We want MS to notice that users want customization! We love the METRO Design Language. We are not trying to bastardize it. I want to buy a phone and put my wife’s face on 4 tiles. What’s wrong with that? A user emailed me and thanked me because now, he can’t stop pinching his pet’s nose on his start screen. This is what keeps us going. There is a demand to decorate our phones to make it OURS.

Wiztiles is an attempt to customize the Windows Phone start screen. With the small window of Launchers and Choosers that the SDK provided to the developers, we are able to launch certain tasks. We can’t launch any of the HUBS, other Apps, Games, and most of the phone settings. We can however, launch the following things:

1. Compose emails

2. Compose text messages

3. Make phone calls

4. Take pictures

5. Launch websites

6. Configure wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, and cellular settings

7. Share your status on twitter, facebook, linkedin, windows live

8. Search the web

9. Get directions and use Maps

10. Browse the Marketplace

Trapster beta on WP7

Trapster beta on WP7

I am one happy bunny, Trapster the hugely popular speed trap sharing system and navigation aid is on its way to our beloved OS, I opened a thread and it was merged with this thread on their forums soon after I obtained my Samsung Omnia 7 back in March 2011. I was a heavy user of the Symbian version on my Nokia Navigator 6710 and I wanted to use it on my new Samsung Windows Phone, however they only replied

‘wait and see’

and

‘We are working on it, but don’t have any dates yet. No worries, it will come!’

Bill Organizer : a simple finance manager

Bill Organizer

Bill Organizer

Bill Organizer is a simple finance manager app on windows phone, developers pitch below

I was sick of all those budget and bill manager apps that are filled with features that I didn’t even use. I just wanted to track my incoming bills and get a quick overview of them, that’s it. That’s why I created Bill Organizer. A clean and simple UI and just enough for me to work with. Like I said I didn’t want to get huge features in them but just the ‘less is more’ principle.
