Version 2.0 of the custom theme tool for windows phone was recently released by the folks at windows phone hacker, this software allows users to add a wallpapers like effect to the home screen , or just add custom icons to the apps on unlocked windows phone devices. Changes in this version include
1) Speed improvements and clean ups
2) Easier to pin tiles
3) Bug fixes
4) Improvements when using the Background Theme, where tiles can either be added or replaced. Also, adding blank tiles or third party apps is now better supported.
Remember the theme app we talked about a couple of days go ? It is now available. According to the devs behind this awesome tool you will need a dev / chevron unlocked Mango windows phone. interop is not a requirement.
Features:
Customize any tile (system or third party, including Marketplace)
Use your image as a background for the tiles
Use an accent color for overlay transparency
Import themes
Export themes
A bundle of joy with easy personalization ;)
We have seen some really good Icon set for WP7 and we have given away a few WP7 Icon Packs, that will help developers with their icon needs for their WP7 apps. And now Pedro Lamas has updated his application bar icons, now there are over 130 icons in the pack. The new icons marked with a white rectangle. If you like what you see , head over there to download them… and do say thanks to him , if you use it :)
In this short tutorial we will see How to change the background theme color on Windows Phone. Windows Phone is not the easiest of platform to customize but when this locked down OS was presented the community said one thing ” Challenge Accepted ” ( or I would like to think they did coz we have seen some great ways to customize the Windows Phone ). From the early Accent color hack to the Categories on Home Screen there are some nice little thing to do to personalize your Windows Phone. One sad thing is that you need a dev unlocked device to do some of those and this is another one of those little hack coz this requires to get down and dirty with the registry values. But once you do that you can create add any color for your background like in the images above.
You all loved the 1st edition of this Windows Phone 7 Icon Set ans so I have no doubt this version ( 2.0 ) called Metro Station will also be a hit. Now there is 7 main sections, with total 209 different icons
There are 3 colours – white, blue and black (that is a total of 627 icons !!).
The files are 256 x 256px ico files (from 16 to 256px) and 256 x 256px png files.
Before getting your hopes high , I just wanted to let you know you will still need to have an unlocked WP7 device for this easy way. Yesterday we came across a way in which we can change the accent colors on WP7. And one of our reader victor roos was quick to point out that is too much trouble to go through to change the color. So benneh another one of our reader was there to point him to a simpler solution. All thanks to @twiniico[ a.k.a (nico) from xda-devs ]
Bored of the limited accent colors available on Windows Phone 7 ? At least some people on xda-developers were and when they don’t like something they fix it. And coz of that we now have the ability to use custom accent colors on our Windows Phone 7 device. Before you get all excited there are a few requirements along the way. You need to have a Unlocked WP7 device and once that is all done, you need to have a File Explorer for Windows Phone 7, now the trouble is that HomeBrew app is only for HTC WP7 devices. What this hack does is that it will replace on of the existing colors on WP7 with a new color of your choice.
There are many 3rd part lock screen apps for windows mobile but Stickman89 from xda-dev have released a new skin for WVGA Windows Mobile 6.5 that will skin the stock lockscreen on wm6.5 to look and feel like the iPhone 4 lock screen. It even mimics the font on the iPhone. Now from a users standpoint the WM6.5 lockscreen offers more data at a glance but if you prefer the simplistic slide to unlock on the lockscreen then try out this new skin

MrVamosMuchachos: Nice idea. You could take some ideas from the application “SBB”. It is the public transport app from switzerland. [Posted from the 1800PocketPC app]
