Mobile Payment Trials in Melbourne

Telstra, NAB and Visa today launched a contactless, mobile phone payments trial with a group of consumers and participating merchants at Melbourne’s Docklands. According to NAB ” Our customers will be able to walk in to a store, select goods to purchase, wave their phone over the reader, see the transaction approved immediately and leave without having to open their wallet ” sounds slick.. Run in to get a Coffee , flip out your phone and off ya go, thats nice no more coins ;)

The trial, involving 200 participants and 12 merchants in the Docklands area of Melbourne, will run over the coming months and will enable Telstra, NAB and Visa to assess Australian consumers’ and retailers’ reaction to this innovative payment option.

If you are one of the cool people who are involved in this trial, we would like to hear from you.

The Menu screen gives you quick access to applications like Powerpoint Mobile , the Youtube player, Internet using the Opera Mobile. He also played a movie using Coreplayer and reported there was a bit of flicker when using the “Qtv Display” option, but the “DirectDraw” option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly. No slowdown or judder at all with my 700Mb file, and the picture quality on the TV was surprisingly good. ( so the Video Driver issue that plagued the TyTN2 might not bother the Touch Pro ).
