Exit games have released a free SDK called Photon Cloud Network Engine which offers multiplayer gaming on Windows Phone, offering developers to integrate multiplayer gaming support to their game. Microsoft have also been working on a multiplayer engine called ‘Switchboard‘ bringing Xbox LIVE multilayer support to developers of Windows Phones games.

Trapster beta on WP7

I am one happy bunny, Trapster the hugely popular speed trap sharing system and navigation aid is on its way to our beloved OS, I opened a thread and it was merged with this thread on their forums soon after I obtained my Samsung Omnia 7 back in March 2011. I was a heavy user of the Symbian version on my Nokia Navigator 6710 and I wanted to use it on my new Samsung Windows Phone, however they only replied

‘wait and see’

and

‘We are working on it, but don’t have any dates yet. No worries, it will come!’

Now many bus stations has an GPS system and show every minute information, but if you have this application you can check this info even from home – so you will know how many minutes earlier to leave your home or job to catch the bus without waiting. Xbox LIVE service outage

Some of you may have noticed an Xbox LIVE outage, causing your Xbox LIVE Friends lists to disappear. The Xbox LIVE outage also causes Leaderboards and Statistics to fail when high scores are updated or leaderboards are attempted to be loaded. Microsoft are working hard to fix the outage, but have not specified any timescale on a fix or the exact cause of the fault, but knowing Microsoft there probably won’t be an explaination, It will just be swept under the rug

DFT presents Samsung Rainbow custom rom

Dark Forces Team presents the first custom rom for first generation Samsung handsets, which are Omnia 7 and Focus handsets revision 1.3 and 1.4.

comScore mobile analysis

comScore has released data from the comScore MobiLens service, which reports a three month period ending December 2011.

The study of over 30,000 U.S. mobile phone subscribers indicating market share for OEM manufacturers and platform.

Samsung was listed top OEM manufacturer with 25.3% market share and Google’s Android as dominant platform with a massive 47.3% share.

I cant be the only one asking this, can I?

WindowsPhone developers have one place to go for all of their app related stuff; the AppHub. This is where you upload new apps, update existing ones, review error reports & download statistics, you can even read all of the reviews your apps receive from around the world (although a translate option would be nice here for foreign languages). It has its quirks, but its easy enough to use & has been updated a few times already.

It looks something like this:

Now, Microsoft have spent a lot of time saying developers are important, so why oh why do we not have a dedicated app for this yet? The screenshot on the right, which was taken on my Optimus7, shows that its not the most finger friendly site when used on a 480x 800 pixel screen & it involves a LOT of zooming whenever you want to use it when out & about. Whilst I realise you cannot upload new apps from on your device, that would be a tad silly, but surely I cant be the only one who wants to check stats/reviews on the go?

My other gripe is about another great developer resource; MSDN (The Microsoft Developer Network). This is another major Microsoft site, which has a huge amount of helpful information, including blogs, downloads, forums & the thing I find most useful; the library, which seems to hold information on pretty much anything related to programming for Windows Phone & other MS platforms.

Again, not the best site for being used on the go. I WANT A DEDICATED APP!
I want to be able to look up useful code stuffs wherever I am. One or two people have tried making their own substitute, such as the ‘Msdn Library Reader‘ but I still think MS could make something much better.

These two resources are so vital to developers that I am amazed that Microsoft didn’t have apps available for them from day one. I hope I’m not alone in thinking this. Microsoft, please do something, your developers need you!
