Update 01/08/2011 : Tutorial to Install Mango Dev Beta 2
We did come across a way for users to install mango if they have an unlocked device. But now the folks at windowsphonehacker has figured out a way to get the new Mango update on Windows Phone without being a developer!! but be warned doing this will void your warranty. The tool will also offer you the ability to backup , if you decide to go down this path backing up is highly recommended.

According to Rafael Rivera one of the blokes behind the chevronWP7 Team, TouchXperience software is fraught with copyright infringements and unsafe hacks.

TouchXperience is a homebrew app for Windows Phone which offers various features like custom menus, organize applications & games, File explorer and more. It works along side Windows Phone Device Manager which is a Windows PC software that will allow you to perform various tasks on an unlocked WP7 device like install/uninstall homebrew applications, File management, Add and manage custom ringtones, Send SMS, E-mail, notes directly from PC, and more. Change Background Color Windows Phone
In this short tutorial we will see How to change the background theme color on Windows Phone. Windows Phone is not the easiest of platform to customize but when this locked down OS was presented the community said one thing ” Challenge Accepted ” ( or I would like to think they did coz we have seen some great ways to customize the Windows Phone ). From the early Accent color hack to the Categories on Home Screen there are some nice little thing to do to personalize your Windows Phone. Advanced Configuration Tool WP7
Julien Schapman has released the beta version 1.2.1.1 of his select and apply hack tool Advanced Configuration Tool , this is a simple way of applying various hacks and tweaks to your unlocked Windows Phone 7 device with out getting your hands dirty with a registry editor. This being a homebrew app you will need an unlocked device to run this. It is currently compatible with HTC, Samsung and LG WP7. ( sorry Dell users )
Features & tweaks:
- Display device info: device name & model, software & hardware versions, memory info, storage info, IP addresses, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth MAC addresses
- Customize accent colors, create new colors, add predefined colors, remove existing ones
- Customize system sounds and set individual volume for each sound event
- Customize tiles and icons for applications including built-in (HTC & LG only Tiles must be named AppTile_*.png and placed in \Windows directory, as well as icons must be named AppIcon_*.png)

ROM Flashing was a once a month ritual for most people while on Windows Mobile and there were quite a few choice for ROM flashers available from xda-dev but with Windows Phone not many people go down this path but there are a select few who like to take their windows phones down these risky road and there is some good news for them folks . SamFirmware have just posted leaked firmware for the Samsung Omnia 7 handset – I8700XXKC1, which is reported to contain the NoDo update. Those who flash their devices are probably aware of the risk involved, I have stayed away from flashing my WP7 till now. Is there any one in here who have flashed an unofficial ROM on to their WP7 device ?

WP7 USB Drive
This is another one that tinkers with the Registry , but this time its on your PC and not on your device , so if you have a unlocked / locked WP7 device and want to turn your WP7 in to a USB drive this little app for your PC will do the trick. You will need to run the software on your PC ( probably with admin rights ) after your have the phone hooked up to the PC via the USB cable. Some users have reported that you should close zune for this to work and some have said this works on locked devices as well ( I have tried it on the Samsung Omnia 7 dev unlocked and it works ). The best part is you can disable this hack from the app if you dont want it.
Like all other hacks this comes with a warning : There may be side effects for using this and you are on your own and I take no responsibility if anything goes wrong.
