Build an idea #20 - Nokia Drive Next Level

When it comes to mobile mapping services, Nokia is king. Nokia Maps has been Nokia’s killer location based service for years now and together with Nokia Drive is offering free navigation for everyone. With the new Windows Phone 8 update Nokia Drive will become in every Windows Phone device. The new Windows Phone 8 will support offline maps, turn by turn directions, give developers access to map control and use the high quality global NAVTEQ mapping data.
There a lot of expensive navigation apps with bad UI and overloaded menus – although I’m addicted, I think that Nokia Drive is the best Navigation app in the market. It is quick, simple and does what it was designed. Nevertheless, I have some ideas that make it even better.

The Next concept in the beginning of July will be about Navigation and Nokia Drive. It’s will be the biggest and richest concept until now with a lot of examples and ideas. If you have some requests or your great ideas about Navigation and what’s missing, please write in the comments below.

    1. drive needs a list view
    2. drive needs to speak the street names like bing does and others
    3. more speaking voices
    4. user voice searches
    5. navigate by click on map view on a location

    I agree with ustudio

also I want to add like:

-Lane assist: easy to drive which lane to be exits.
-time option (military time 24hr or am/pm hr) I know Nokia drive has a 24 hrs military time. I hope they have an option to change into am/pm hrs
    - more personal voice guidance
    - destination either left or right
    - highway names exit instead numbers exit

Sorry if my english is wrong but I hope you will understand.
I agree with the above. And Lane-assist is a big miss.
But they need to combine Nokia Drive, maps and transport.
Why have 3 apps that basicly does the same work.
Make one app that can work across all 3 apps.

lets also merge city lens for obvious reason but also when using transport I often get off bus and not know which direction or side of the street I’m supposed to catch the next bus on, if if city lense would work with transit app the I could just look virtually in both directions and see instantly which way I’m supposed to go, that should work for drive as it happen in all gps systems even garmin, if your in a gas station or just starting out sometime you have to guess which way to go with city lens you’d know instantly with way to turn. also would work for finding food gas, a beer, etc

I agree with everyone’s ideas and though I like the simplest approach but I also like more customizations so just like the new start screen is supposed to be me first I think drive can as well so I should be able to make it unique for me meaning rearrange it to my taste or even colors

Add a background Task connected with the calendar!!! So drive would alarm you through toast and tile when you should take off to your next calendar entry (if this entry has an address) by calculating time needed to get there from current location in the background.
So the tile could show a countdown to take off and toast would show something like “you have to go to [calendar entry] in ten minutes or you will be late due to current traffic conditions.” [Posted from the 1800PocketPC app]

Please integrate Nokia Drive with Nokia Maps, so that all my favorites that have been collected over the past few years will be seen in Nokia Drive. [Posted from the 1800PocketPC app]
