AsciiCamera Image
AsciiCamera is a simple photo effects app in the WP7 Marketplace for some odd reason the app is put in LifeStyle – Out & About Section of the WP7 Marketplace instead of Photo. AsciiCamera lets you create Ascii art with any picture on WP7 with a few clicks n swipes. Ascii art for the uninitiated is used to refer to text based art in general that the only the cool kids could do back in the days but now a days any one can upload an image and the there are sites that can generate the ASCII Art for you and now with apps like AsciiCamera its available right on your Windows Phone 7.
AsciiCamera does one thing and it seems to do a good job at that. It has got a simple enough interface that lets you choose the pics from your phone or lets you take a new one from within the app and instantly coverts them in to Ascii art. The app offers 2 modes Monochrome ( black n white ) or Colorized and even allows you to change the contrast need for the app to generate the image.

When you launch the app the user is given the option to take a new picture with the inbuilt camera, or you can select a picture already on the device. Once selected, the AsciiCamera app will automatically convert the image into ASCII art. Once the image is generated you can save it to the Picture Hub and you have access to all the images you have saved like this if you swipe across to the screen, You can also upload it directly to Twitter ( via TwitPic , there is no configuration options )

Maybe its just me but the color of the generated image look quite nice on the SAMOLED screen but when transferred to the PC its does not look as good as it is on the phone.
One minor issue I came across is that AsciiCamera does not save the image if you chose to exit out of the app while the image is being processed. With version 1.4 it certainly have improved the speed of image generation. The app offers a trial mode in which the generated Ascii Art images cannot be saved nor uploaded to Twitter (i.e. only supporting to make and browse Ascii Arts from camera snapshots or photos in the album.)
2 things that would love to see included in this app is the ability to just swipe across on the main screen to select Monochrome / Colorized and the ability to export the ASCII Art in text format.
