App Rank : realtime marketplace stats for your windows phone apps

App Rank

App Rank

Every developers would love to get the stats for their apps from the marketplace and we have seen many solutions to fetch these data on the go on your windows phone ,Cris recently posted his rants on the missing App Hub app which could fill this gap. Thankfully there are multiple solutions like AppFlow, AppTracker which attempts to do this and this is one such app.

The developers behind App Rank informs us the major advantage of their app is that they fetch the results real time !! so each time you check the stats for an app they send the request and collects the data ( 100 records at a time I think ) this makes sure that the data is fresh but as the maketplace grows this makes the app a bit slow to fetch the result :( , full press release below

The only app that provides the real-time app ranking of your apps on all 34 Marketplaces around the globe.
Get in depth app stats such as:
- overall ranking
- category ranking
- user rating
- user rating since last update
- number of user reviews
- number of user reviews since last update

It’s a nice app, but honestly I’m not a fan of the real-time stats concept.
That data is heavily cached on Microsoft’s side, I’m not sure that bashing the zune servers with all those requests is a good idea – the marketplace is slow enough on its own at times.. my 2 cents

Based on what we know the rankings only change once per day, so we’d tend to agree that ‘real-time’ stats are questionable. Also we suspect they are using replication so you might find two devices get different results. App stats aren’t like the stock market :)

Another app with similar target is “Marketplace Analyst”. It’s also worth a try.

If you want it on a big screen (and not as an app), you may check http://marketranking.sylde.net.
It displays app ranking history, and can compare up to 3 apps on the same chart.
