in News

We have seen many new features in the new Mango update for Windows Phone and now we have official confirmation ( via WMPU ) that Microsoft has added over 500 new features to Windows Phone in the Mango Update. We don’t have to wait long for this, all will be unveiled tomorrow :) we have listed what features we know are coming after the break

These are the features we know of ( some of these are based on rumors )

  • Bing Vision – This would let you search for items using the camera – through barcodes, QR Codes, Microsoft Tags, Books, CDs, DVDs and even text using OCR.
  • Bing Audio – Lets you search for music using the Bing search engine. Apparently, it would let you search for music by holding the phone up to a song to recognize it – just like Shazam
  • Turn-by-turn Navigation – The name says it – voice guidance during driving
  • On Device Podcast Support – podcast on your Phone !!
  • SMS Dictation – Voice to text on your SMS application using Microsoft’s TellMe service by clicking the little microphone at the bottom of the screen.

  • Contacts grouping – group messaging will be a core feature
  • Office 365 integration – Office 365 features built-in
  • Lockscreen can be set to the currently playing album art.

( source )

  • Windows Live Messenger / Facebook Chat / AOL Messenger integration – Integrated into the people hub and messaging hub
  • Outlook Conversation View / Outlook email server search – thread view for email and search email from server via the app
  • Lync Messaging Client – Enterprise messaging client
  • Twitter – Tweets integration into people hub
  • Visual Voicemail - Visual voicemail will be a core feature on WP 7.5
  • Network awareness NCSI support – improvements for switching between networks/optimization
  • Support for access to hidden corporate Wi-Fi networks
  • Fast application resume
  • Multitasking support – switch quickly between apps ( video )
  • East Asian Language keyboard support – additional language support
  • Handwriting and dictionary support
  • Zune Smart DJ
  • Camera shutter sound toggle
  • Improved Bluetooth support

Could we see

  • Internet Explorer 9 mobile with HTML5 support
  • Unified inbox for email
  • real multiplayer games on xBox live ?

So what all did we miss ?

I don’t think they have said it will be a part of mango. It was rumored to come as an independent update to IE Mobile.
