Unlock The Security On The Samsung Jack

According to PocketNow.com The Samsung Jack is having limited access to users to fiddle with the registry and even limitations to installing some of the most common third party software is not supported. What were they thinking we are not in iPhone land here, in the land of Windows Mobile we dont like hardware manufactures restricting the users like this and thanks to Mobility Minded we have a fix to remove this restrictions.

• The first step of removing the security limitations is to download the ClearSecurity file.
• Next, connect the Samsung Jack to the computer and move the file to the device through ActiveSync.
• Install ClearSecurity and launch Microsoft’s Security Configuration Manager.
• Select Security Off from the drop down menu and click the Provision button, the program will install a file called Tool.
• Run a registry editor program like Total Commander and delete the file ForceCellConnection from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Comm>InternetSharing>Settings.

Thanks for posting this information. But when I try to to set the security to off and click the Provision button, I get an error saying that it can't install the program because the CAB file is not signed and because my device is in two-tier mode...any thoughts on how to change this?

    Thanks.

Clear Security installs Mobi Remote Control. I know this software and know there is no need for it to be used to do this. Most files are encrypted and the only IP I saw was a 192.168.x.x, but I'm still thinking the user intended on trying to remote control everyone's phone. I used an Epix before this and to unlock it all I had to do were some regedits and run a hidden exe file in the windows folder ATT reps use to unlock.
  • Beto
The Epix is Windows Pro, meaning one tier security. The Jack runs Windows Standard. Windows Standard is two tier security, meaning parts of the registry are restricted fron being edited, which includes the secutity settings. The Mobi file simply allows for a cab file from the Security Configuration Manager to be installed so that the security settings can be lowered. Plus, once this is accomplished (in a matter of minutes), the Mobi file can and should be uninstalled.

I have just replaced my Samsung BlackJack 2 (SGH-i616) with an unlocked Samsung Jack (SGH-i637) which was an AT+T phone. I have put in my Fido sim card and the phone works, but I cannot send or receive email, cannot log onto the internet, the call display is not working, etc. How can I disable all of the AT+T settings and enter the Fido settings?

I can't get the Microsoft Security Configuration Manager running on my computer. I'm using Windows 7. I can install it but I shuts down immediately when I run it. It doesn't run in the XP compatible mode either. Anyone know what to do?

Do you know anything about this phone working with Ford Sync, it is supposed to be able to read me text messages when I am in my car but it seems AT&T and Samsung have disabled the feature?

When I try to install the clearsecurity.cab file on jack. It says unsuccessful bcaz the certificate is not digitally signed. Can you please provide the updated information or alternate solution to unlock the security feature Which is so annoying x-(
  • Kelly
When I try to install the Clear Security cab on my Jack, it tells me that it is unsuccessful because the file isn't "digitally signed with a trusted certificate"

is there a way around that?

I am having the same problem with the Clear Security Zip file not showing up on my phone. I am running Windows Vista. I plug my phone into the PC and then just drag the zip file from my PC desktop to the phone root directory "\". I see it on my PC but when I look on the phone it isn't there. When I try to run the file from my PC screen (in the phone folder where it was pasted) my Winrar program just pauses and then gives an error.

    Any help would be appreciated...

Sounds to me like everyone just needs to read the instructions word for word if they are having problems. I did this the first time and had not on problem. It was easier doing this than any of the other hacks/tricks to the phone.

For people looking for clearsecurity.cab... do a google search, you will find it really quick, but since I'm a nice guy and you're probably too lazy to search, here's the link...

Also, make sure to remove MobiControl from your phone after you get done unlocking it as it will drain your battery very quickly. Hope this helps!

Hey! the video is great an all. but how do i get to the point of the registery editor (i am tryin to use Total Commandor) to find the phone. i have never used this type of program before.
  • PPCInformer
You can get Total commander from here ( http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm ) , you can either install the cab directly on your device or install via the windows installer ( by syncing your device with your PC via Active Sync ) and running the installer on your PC. It will transfer the cab to your device and install it there. Check in the programs folder on your PocketPC for Total Commander and launch it from there. With this app you have to edit the registry via the mobile device and not on the PC as in the video.

In the video he used Mobile Registry Editor ( with this you can edit the registry on your PocketPC via the PC ) . A similar app is here : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2009/06/06/ceregedi...

I finally got everything figured out, it was mostly due to my ignorance. ANyways, is there another website where I can get more third party apps. I know of www.myblackjack2.com, but is there any others? Thanks!
  • PPCInformer
I haven't followed Smartphones apps with much interest so I am in the dark about those :(. Try google you might find some site for it
  • Danny
Ok, I figured out the Clear Security and I ran the System Configuration Manager, but now I cannot run Total Commander from winrar. After I extract the files I cannot open any of them!

    Help!
  • PPCInformer
Glad you sorted that out , Get Total commander from : http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm

If you get the Windows Installer ( exe ) run it on your PC after connecting your device via active sync.

    or

Download and transfer the .cab file to your phone ( There is NO need to extract the cab file , the icon might look like a RAR file on your PC )

lets us know how it goes
