I just saw this on fuzemobility.com , a company called Stantum that will permit multitouch on a resistive screen has a working prototype. Its still under development but boy does it have potential or what. In the video it shows support for gestures, multitouch support, finger pressure and more. This will require specialized hardware so there won’t be an upgrade for existing WinMo devices but who knows . WM7 might feature this
