Hi,
I have just installed iFonz 0.9.9 and I must say, I am really impressed with its display and respond speed when launching an application.
However, I need some assistance in changing the icons and its links. I am using a HTC Touch Cruise which comes with the weather forecast embedded in the Today screen. I have tried searching for the link in various folders but I can’t seem to find the link to it.
Also, when I tried to search my storage card (4GB) to add a link to one of the icon, nothing was displayed after a long search process.
Can help?
—————–
Saijo George : For icon settings in ifonz command should be \Windows\ctlpnl.exe and the arguments should be
cplmain.cpl,4 (this is main memory)cplmain.cpl,4,1 (storage card)
cplmain.cpl,4,2 (running programs)
Then Pick you favorite icon

If u have a look 2 the video that is posted on this page @ about 2:14 the user click on the skype Icon and it brings up the settings screen for that Icon. So similarly just click and hold on the contacts Icon that u already have and u can change the command field to point to the Icontact application. hope this helps you out else just let me know by reply to this post.
PS: please dont post you contact number in public as its not a safe practice, I have edited it out of ur post.

Hi Saijo George:
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am still having trouble I don’t have the Skype icon on the Iphonz desk top. Is there another way to get my contacts icon onto the ifonz desk top.
Jay

Saijo George : You can try it on any icon on your screen. So select one of the icon that u dont need on the desktop then click and hold it. It should bring up the options screen where u can select the path to your desired application. hope that helps you out.

Saijo George, hoping you can help me brother. I’m having a similar problem to Jay Gorstein’s earlier issue. I know how to change the icons and set it to different programs but my specific problem is that i dont know where the find certain .exe files.
The main .exe file i’m trying to find is for my Contacts so that i could set it to one of the icons (ex: \windows\contacts.exe). If you could help me out i’d greatly appreciate it.
My phone is a T-Mobile Wing. Thanks again.

Just extract the lnk file from this http://www.1800pocketpc.com/shared_files/Contacts.zip to your phone and run it to launch the default Contacts application. Hope that solves your issue

Saijo George,
Hey its me again. I’ve got another help request, I’ve been looking around some forums (mainly XDA), and the only help i can find is too vague. The problem is that when i get a voicemail there is no notification for it.
The best answer to that, was one that i found in the XDA forums, which said to simply create a new icon and change the ‘icon type’ to ‘voicemail’….Unfortunately but not surprisingly it doesn’t work seeing as how changing the ‘icon type’ doesn’t change ‘file’ linked to it. If you don’t mind lending another hand i’d really be grateful (more-so than before lol). Thanks

Give this a shot I am not sure if it will work though.
http://www.1800pocketpc.com/shared_files/voicemail.zip
download that copy the .lnk to your desktop, open it with a text editor ( notepad will do )
replace the 0000000000 with the voicemail number
save it ( make sure the file ends in .lnk and NOT .txt )
transfer it to your device

Hello Saijo,
Just installed the iFonz 1.1.2 on to my unlocked HTC 8525 ( HERM 100 ) via Mobile device mgr.
I am not too familiar on how to install software or apps on to my device, but so far I have uploaded it to my devicees program file and extracted all files.
I do not know where to go from here as nothing has actually happened.
Can you help me specify steps fron star to finish on how to get this up and running.
Will greatly appreciate it.

Hi Monty
Its best to try the latest version : iFonz 1.1.2 and since its a HTC 8525 you need to install the QVGA version. download the zip file and extract the content say in to a folder called iFonz on
device memory\Program Files\iFonz
then run iFonz.exe to launch the application
me know if you have any issues with it
NOTE: you will need to have .NET Compact Framework 3.5 installed on your device for this to work get it from.
to install it download the cab file , transfer it to ur device and run the cab file. ( install to phone memory, after installation you can delete the cab file)
November 24th, 2008 at 2:15 am
Thanx Saijo,
I have gone through your steps and downloaded the NET Compact Framework 3.5 that you have provided link ( opened 9 files total ) on to my device in a program file.
I extracted this NET Compact file on to my device memory and from here went to the iFonz 1.1.2 and extracted in it’s own iFonz file, and now when I click either setting exe or IFonz exe file to run the program, I get message “This application (iFonz.exe) requires a newer version of the Mocrosoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device”
I am stumped!!!
Could it be that I have not run the NET Compact correctly or is it necessary to also open the 9 files from the extracted NET Compact files individually ???
Note: Some files of iFonz do operate like the readme files and utilities & gfx files.
I would very much appreciate your help in resolving this.
Thanks in advance,
Mony

Install this to your device memory : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/shared_files/netcfcfg.cab
Running ‘.Net Configuration’ from your Start Menu
Navigating to the ‘Device Policy’ tab and selecting version 3.5
Selecting ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’
Reboot
See if that helps.
Whats it does is that it forces Windows Mobile to use .NET 3.5 over the older version of .NET that might be present on your device.
November 24th, 2008 at 4:09 am
Okay Saijo,
Downloaded to device and followed your instructions.
I navigated to the “Device Policy” and it was in (Deault) and the only other selection scroling down was “1.0.4292″ there was no other option so I wen on and selected this and apply .
I rebooted, but still iFonz exe. will not run ( still says needs a newer version NET…..)
I also see that there is a tab “Application Policy” and it seems that it allows you to Override Device Policy for certain applications, example-(\MyDocuments\iFonz\.exe)
Is this something I could use or should I leave this alone?
Thank you for hanging in there with me !!!!
Regards,
Monty

lets give it one more shot, try this version of .NET http://www.1800pocketpc.com/shared_files/NETCFv35.cab
Install to Phone memory, reboot. Open Net Configuration and follow the instructions posted above.
Once you change this to version 3.5 all application should use 3.5 so there will be no need to change the application policy.
Fingers crossed

Eureka !!
Got it.
It seems that the NET v35 file I had installed prior was not the updated version, and this version worked after I also loaded the netcfcfg.cab file.
I followed your instructions and vuala !
the iFonz loaded fine and it looks good.
Now, can I bother you a bit more ?
I now am trying to load Hard-spl-v7. “Olipro 2.10″
I am trying to run the zip executable file from my desktop and I follow the instructions, but when I click that last button to run the file, it locks up and gives me the message ( 260 ) USB not connected.
What I am trying to do is upgrade from my current wm5 to wm6 or wm6.1 if possible, but from what I have researched, it is a good idea to first load the Hard-spl-v7 .
I currently have HERM100 - IPL-1.01 / SPL-1.06
Any suggestions or advice would be again appreciated.
Thanks again!
Monty

Saijo George,
I finally figured out how to transfer the ifonz exe file from my laptop to my tmobile wing, however..it says there is not enough space on the storage card to convert the exe file. My card has 1800mb available..is that not enough?
December 11th, 2008 at 11:48 pm

Saijo George,
Now it said my framework wasn’t up to date, so I downloaded and installed the 3.5 framework. But now when I try to install the ifonz.exe, it keeps saying unexpected error in ifonz.exe and i have to restart the program or quit. I tried that over and over, but no luck. Do i need a different version?
December 13th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Check your .Net version @ times when you install the new version the files does not get installed properly see this tutorial for install instruction : http://www.saijogeorge.com/2008/11/24/delete-old-version-of-net-compact-framework-from-pocket-pc.html
December 14th, 2008 at 3:14 am
Saijo George,
I already had the 3.5 version, so i downloaded the net config, and switched it so that it always runs programs on 3.5. Even after this, I still keep getting the same error message when trying to run ifonz.exe. Any other ideas?
